Geldzahler & Rechsteiner:
A conversation in my head while examining the very existence of house plantsConceived as an audio drama and presented as a multi-layered audio-visual installation
The internal dialogue between the protagonist, the artist, and various important personalities in the art world takes the listener/viewer into a realm between reality and irreality, an imagined reality based on our normal perception of what we call reality. The story is about a chance encounter between the artist Jay Rechsteiner and Klaus Biesenbach who falls in love with him and his work. He then introduces Jay to various other people such as Iwan and Manuela Wirth, Tracey Emin, Hans-Ulrich Obrist, Carl Freedman and Martin Creed. It is about the very moment when 'things' start happening for the artist, it is about the desire for recognition, fame and popularity. It is a somewhat personal piece spiced with humour and experimentation re its presentation. Besides the audio-play there is also footage taken at the botanical garden of the University of Basel and colourful bunting that aims to unite the work in a celebratory manner.
